STERN GALLERY EXHIBITIONS

Regarding Beauty

Beauty. Such a simple and ordinary word. But in the language of art there are few words as charged as “Beauty”.

What is beauty? What is the connection between art and beauty? What role does beauty play in our lives?

This exhibition will approach the matter of beauty in attempt to raise questions regarding a term, which has become problematic in art. Some works were created in Paris between the two world wars, at a time when beautiful art was very unpopular. The contemporary artists participating in the exhibition demonstrate different aspects of beauty – either as a subject or as a secondary product.

The cautious return of beauty after such a long exile demands a renewed discourse and recognition of the role that beauty plays in the art scene at the beginning of the 21st century.
