Baitler was born in Lithuania and immigrated to Uruguay in 1927. In 1977 Uruguay celebrated 50 years of Baitler's art. This important artist was also appointed as diplomat to Israel. He served twice in this position and was strongly connected to Israel. In 1963 Baitler participated in an exhibition at the Israel Museum and in 1974 he exhibited in the Tel-Aviv museum.
