PROFILE STERN PISSARO GALLERY LONDON

Stern Pissarro Gallery (originally Stern Art Dealers) was established in 1963 by Meir Stern, dealing purely in 19th Century paintings. In 1984 his son David took over the running of the gallery, and in 1988, following Davidן¿½s marriage to Lelia Pissarro, great grand-daughter of Camille Pissarro, a separate department was set up dedicated to four generations of the Pissarro family.

In 2001 the gallery underwent a complete transformation and now houses its unique Pissarro collection in the new contemporary looking main gallery. Within this collection the gallery offers oils, watercolours, pastels, drawings and etchings by all the Pissarro artists.

Meanwhile, the collection of 19th Century paintings has moved to the lower gallery. This collection focuses on English and European paintings, mainly from the second half of the 19th Century.

Stern Pissarro Gallery has a unique position in the art world as the only gallery to specialise in Camille Pissarro and four generations of his descendants, covering 150 years of paintings in various techniques by this extraordinary family.
